The key to rethinking the upper floors of this detached two-and-a-half story house in Kensington was relocating the existing kitchen to the center wall of the house, allowing for an elongated island with seating, repurposing the previous location as a playroom and modifying the connectivity and circulation of the remaining spaces. New access to the rear yard was provided by way of a second story steel-framed deck and stair.
